09 Dec 2021

The Regional Investment Corporation (RIC) is a federal government-backed specialist finance provider for farmers, farm-related small businesses and plantation businesses. For the 2021-22 financial year the RIC has approved more than 115 total loans valued at over $127 million. Since its inception on 1 July 2018, the RIC has approved more than 2830 total loans valued at over $3.07 billion as at 31 October 2021.

RIC’s Plantation Loan applications opened on 6 December 2021 to support new and bushfire-damaged forestry plantations.  The Plantation Loan provides up to $2.5 million over a 20-year term to eligible farmers and businesses with interest-only terms and a concessional interest rate.

The Plantation Loan is designed to sustainably increase domestic wood supply and support the regional economies and communities that depend on the industry.

The RIC also provides low interest loans for farmers to buy or establish a new farm business or succession planning using the AgriStarter Loan, invest in their farm business using the Farm Investment Loan and to prepare for, manage through, or recover from drought using the Drought Loan.
