Farmers for Climate action field day

03 Aug 2022

Wednesday 3 August 2022, 11am to 2pm - Weegena (near Deloraine)

Farmers for Climate action’s Tas network is holding a field day in Weegena (near Deloraine) on 3 August!

Join Sam Trethewey, founder of Tas Ag Co, as he takes you on a tour of his property and shows you the innovative work he is doing to build soil carbon and improve farm management practices. It is also a great opportunity to catch up with like-minded farmers over lunch!

As you tour Sam’s property, you will learn about what the Tretheweys are doing to rebuild their soil health through carbon farming and data-backed management, as well as restoring native ecosystems.

Afterwards, a delicious barbecue lunch will be had where Sam will supply quality beef produced by Tas Ag Co!

RSVP for the field day and see how the Tretheweys are achieving their mission to make their operations climate-smart!

Sam has almost 20 years of experience in agriculture and agribusiness. Now, Sam and his wife, Stephanie, manage the Tasmanian Agricultural Company and aim to produce regenerative Wagyu cross beef by adopting practices like time-controlled rotational grazing, multi-species plant crops and no pesticide use. In 2019, Tas Ag Co became the first farm in Tasmania to register a soil carbon project through Australia’s $2.5 billion Emissions Reduction Fund, using the only soil carbon measuring protocol eligible under the United Nations Paris Agreement. By farming this way, the Tas Ag Co wants to present farming as a solution to climate change, taking carbon from the atmosphere and putting it back in the soil.

The field day will run for approximately three hours (from 11am to 2pm).

Please bring $20 on the day to chip in for lunch.
